widdershins at the Men-an-Tol
Apr 11, 2003, 20:59
Paul Devereux and Craig Weatherhill, in ‘Myths & Legends of Cornwall’ (Sigma Leisure, - 1994 / 1998) mentions widdershins as part of the folklore of the Men an Tol in Cornwall - http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/browse.php?site_id=236 - “children suffering from scrofula and rickets would be passed widdershins (anti-clockwise) through the hole, the magical three times; adults with back and limb pains would pass through nine times”.

Interestingly, the most indepth book I’ve seen about the Men-an-Tol (the one from the Cornwall Archaeology Unit mentioned at the bottom of the men-an-tol page on this site) doesn’t actually mention this folklore, despite going into a lot of detail about the other folklore attached to the site.
