This is very exciting. I will miss Peter Capaldi like mad, but this gets a big thumbs up from me!

What you said.

Glad to see the end of Moffat too. He's turned into the John-Nathan Turner of New Who.

By the way, love the Low album cover look.

She's still wearing 12's clobber in that, presumably just having regenerated.

True, nice that he gets to regenerate in a scenic springtime woodland rather than a quarry.

Actually, I have to moan about the need to do these spoilers at all. I would've preferred to find out as part of the story. Moan over.

I still can't stop picturing her saying: "Hang on, does that mean I've got a big TARDIS!?"

Oh Jodie Whittaker - I thought they'd gone for Phoebe Quantum Bridge lady.

Dear god this is worse than that time David Milliband won the Labour leadership!

Bring back Billie Piper - not watched more than a couple of Dr Thingy's since she left!

Can't believe that some forward thinking person has already started a petition to get the BBC to return the role to being a male actor.
Or that teh daily mail have actually got an opinion on Dr Who.

But wish the next series was a lot more imminent. Having to wait 9 months or 14 or whatever is a pain.
I want to see how she embodies the part.
Also want to see if she's going to stick with some variation on the classic Victorian/Edwardiab frock coat, drainpipe trousers etc look or do something completely new. Or do something more Missyish which i think might be possibly too idiosyncratic to Michele Gomez or Julie Andrews.
I don't really know Whittaker so don't know if she's more of a skirt or trousers wearer. But am interested in what the look will be anyway.

I'm sure there will be some kind of costume nods for the fans to spot, maybe not quite so much as Lalla Ward's long coat and long scarf variations on Tom's costume but even so.

At the end of the day it will come down to the quality of the stories, writing and her acting range. All the best Doctors have been able to switch from levity to towering rage and back in a twinkle. If she can do that she'll be just fine. I think it's a great move, and maybe frees up the options for companions too.
