Whoa! He help kick off the folk revival of the sixties. Had many stellar albums of minimalist guitar compositions based on old traditional blues and folk standards. HH'ers might like his albums Blind Joe Death, Red Cross and Vol.4, most all of his albums are worth it. In the nineties he had a revival of sorts with people like Cul de sac, Jim O'rourke and Sonic Youth members. Ran an excellent record label, Revenant, who took great care (extensive liner notes, innovative packaging) in producing their cd's. He died fairly recently. His last album, Red Cross, was just released, and it shows him still creative and interesting.
