Assuming that nothing else of note will come to my attention in the last two months of the year, my Top Five albums of 2023 are:

Steven Wilson 'The Harmony Codex'
Blur 'The Ballad Of Darren'
Black Star Riders 'Wrong Side Of Paradise'
Soft Machine 'Other Doors'
Molina, Talbot, Lofgren & Young 'All Roads Lead Home'

I'd like to throw in Julian's wonderful 'Cope's Notes 5: The Modern Antiquarian', though that's as much a book as an album. And in a great year for all things Drudesque, 'Culture Bunker 1978-82' is my compilation of choice.

It's been a good year for classical releases too, of which I'd single out the Chiaroscuro Quartet's CD of Haydn: String Quartets Op.33 nos.1-3 as a particular source of joy.

But who knows - there might yet be more!
