Naxatras – III. Greek heavy psych guys, quite reminiscent of Motorpsycho at their most discursive, worth a listen: https://naxatras.bandcamp.com/album/iii
Icarus Peel’s Acid Reign – The Window On The Side Of Your Head. Basically, if Bevis Frond/Nick Saloman had been really into Hendrix and Cream. Authentically grungey in sound (but not in the Nirvana sense)
Ty Segall & White Fence – Joy. I reckon that lots of listening to SF Sorrow took place before this album was recorded. Like late 60s Pretty Things and The Who cut up into pieces and reassembled randomly. A general air of smartarsery detracts from what could have been a better/more cohesive album.
Lay Llamas – Thuban
Pelagos – Revolve
Vive La Void – s/t
Tangerine Dream – Miracle Mile OST. Just re-released, and really rather good if you like the early 80s TD sound with a large pinch of John Carpenter thrown in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doW4s-1ULOc
Del Dettmar/Gerald Toon – Synthesis. Some cosmic looning from ex-Hawkwind electronics guy and Canadian friend. Released on a tape in 1980, surprisingly listenable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnSZO2XMHzo&t=56s
VA – Bright Ambassadors Of Morning. The latest MOJO free CD off the back of yet another Pink Floyd front cover, but I have to say, it’s actually a bit of a cracker, a nicely sequenced (mainly) modern new age psych comp. It even features that rarest of things, a decent Flaming Lips track.
Listen With Father:
Going back though our Intro To Rock comp vol II, seeing what’s registered most with my little indoctranees. Much excitement when Deep Purple’s ‘Burn’ came on, perhaps Blackmore’s greatest riff?
