In honour of the Time Machines reissue (my new copy hasn't arrived yet) I indulged and listened to all the droney Coil I have for most of the time.

COIL - Timemachines/Timemachines II (off youtube)/ANS.
I fell in love with Timemachines the minute It fell into my sweaty little mitts, way back in 2000 when World Serpent Distribution were still around. I guess it was my introduction to all things 'drone', and led onto many a purchace of drawn out 'Kosmische' styles of musics. I even took the 'Telepathine' moniker as my HH avatar. The Coil take on Kosmiche is a little more minimal. I guess if I meditated and needed something to drown out the background noise, this would be perfect, but as it is, I just find it takes me on a serene and calming inner journey (esp on cans). Your mind deffo makes up sounds that are not there too....the moniker of the album is 'Musick Cures You Of Time', deffo works fer me.
I don't own Timemachines II, it was released on a fancy USB for loads of money I didn't have at the time, and it's a different beast in that it's a busier, less contemplative sound, though enjoyable enough. I haven't played ANS for years. It didn't really strike a chord on it's initial release, but have enjoyed it immensely this last week. Again, there was a fancy box set of 3 discs and a DVD released, I do have CDr copies of the album, but the extended work out doesn't get that much airplay. The single disc version seems to have the best tracks anyhow.
Drew McDowall who was involved in Coil for a while has a duo with the guy outta Psychic Ills called Compound Eye that take the Timemachines drone spirit and make new shapes outta it, but the original is still the best fer me (maybe this time i'll get me 6 stickers too).

Also caught a dark Swedish film/comedy called LFO, where a guy manipulating frquencies to cure his tinnitus discovers a frequency that can be used to control people. It's up on Prime to watch fer free if you have it.
