Roxy Music - first album Paul McCartney - Back to the Egg - some good moments but meh! Glorior Belli - Manifesting the Raging Beast ARTS - Thousand Wounds of War Some bargain-basement metal I found for relatively cheap. The former tends to be rather by-the-numbers black metal but the latter is faster-tempo and almost No Wave in execution (so to speak...)

Tyrannosaurus Rex 'Unicorn' - quite my favourite Bolan LP Little Feat - first album: love this muchly, as I do all their early LPs Sex Pistols 'Never Mind The Bollocks' - pure heavy metal, but such fun Drude 'Trip Advizer' - essential comp of recent(ish) vibes Deep Purple: Singles and EP Anthology - Purple have always made great 45s: evidence herein Allman Brothers 'Eat A Peach' - for the incredible 'Mountain Jam' Tony Bennett & Dave Brubeck 'The White House Sessions 1962' - whatever else one could say about him, Kennedy had good musical taste Curtis Mayfield - excellent compilation acquired from Sainsbury's for £3 Various 'Funny Old Shit' - astoundingly entertaining Trunk Records comp Various 'V' - reminder of how enterprising and eclectic the early Virgin catalogue was Nelson Freire 'Brahms' - particularly idiomatic in the late works Brahms: Symphony no.4 (London Classical Players/Roger Norrington) - decent interpretation despite scrawny original instruments

In honour of the Time Machines reissue (my new copy hasn't arrived yet) I indulged and listened to all the droney Coil I have for most of the time. COIL - Timemachines/Timemachines II (off youtube)/ANS. I fell in love with Timemachines the minute It fell into my sweaty little mitts, way back in 2000 when World Serpent Distribution were still around. I guess it was my introduction to all things 'drone', and led onto many a purchace of drawn out 'Kosmische' styles of musics. I even took the 'Telepathine' moniker as my HH avatar. The Coil take on Kosmiche is a little more minimal. I guess if I meditated and needed something to drown out the background noise, this would be perfect, but as it is, I just find it takes me on a serene and calming inner journey (esp on cans). Your mind deffo makes up sounds that are not there too....the moniker of the album is 'Musick Cures You Of Time', deffo works fer me. I don't own Timemachines II, it was released on a fancy USB for loads of money I didn't have at the time, and it's a different beast in that it's a busier, less contemplative sound, though enjoyable enough. I haven't played ANS for years. It didn't really strike a chord on it's initial release, but have enjoyed it immensely this last week. Again, there was a fancy box set of 3 discs and a DVD released, I do have CDr copies of the album, but the extended work out doesn't get that much airplay. The single disc version seems to have the best tracks anyhow. Drew McDowall who was involved in Coil for a while has a duo with the guy outta Psychic Ills called Compound Eye that take the Timemachines drone spirit and make new shapes outta it, but the original is still the best fer me (maybe this time i'll get me 6 stickers too). Timemachines - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYApap08Rcc Timemachines II - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Hj8vDL5rQk ANS (Disc 1) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nu2yp3PYdTQ ANS DVD - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEMBVBn9LGk Other Stuff Jesus and Mary Chain - Honey's Dead Julian Cope - Black Sheep Julian Cope - Jehovahkill Can - The Can Tapes Primitive Knot - Sub Temple Ov.... Liars - Fins To Make Us More Like Fish EP Liars - TFCF Opening track wouldn't sound outta place earlier Liars albums (well mid period). Best Liars album in years. Album - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD68H6bXNOg&list=PLlOx16OHMHLhGEWmn1di-kacoskGEk-Cc Also caught a dark Swedish film/comedy called LFO, where a guy manipulating frquencies to cure his tinnitus discovers a frequency that can be used to control people. It's up on Prime to watch fer free if you have it. Anyhow, have a great week.

First time doing this for a while - it's good to be back! Uriah Heep - Salisbury Proggier I expected, with lots of waily waily vocals - great stuff! Motown Chartbusters Vol 6 Got the CD for £3 in a 2nd hand place, and it's a lot of fun in the car. Always loved the cover (Roger Dean?) Gorkey's Zygotic Mynci - Barafundle, Spanish Dance Troupe I'd forgotten how much I love this lot - some very wonderful songs. Twink - Think Pink Greenslade - S/T Brian Eno - Music For Films The Zombies - Odessey and Oracle David Bowie - Lodger Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool Vinyl: Earthling Society - Ascent To Godhead Essential. This is such a great album, and I keep returning to it. If you can get a sky blue version do so, it is a thing of beauty! Domboshawa - Minds electrix Loopy guitars and dreamy synths. Drone Rock records are releasing some fantastic stuff at the moment. Another gorgeous artefact too - splatter vinyl loveliness. White Manna - Bleedin Eyes Like if Hawkwind joined the Velvets and had a bit of a party. Hotel Wrecking City Traders - Passage To Agartha Noisy loud and spaced-out entertainment. Great double album, fab sci-fi cover. Thijs Van Leer - O My Love Good fun this, although not up there with classic Focus. Picked up 2nd hand for a few quid. I want some Jan Akkerman though, particularly Profile. Blown Out - Superior Venus To quote an acquaintance "fucking epic". And it is. Working Man Noise Unit - Play Loud This is just so bloody good, and currently the album is available for just £5 from Riot Season - £5!!! http://riotseason.bigcartel.com/product/workin-man-noise-unit-play-loud-vinyl-lp The Janitors - Horn Ur Marken The first thing I heard of this lot didn't grab me, but this album is something else. A pile of fun garage noise junk. Stereocilia - Hive Mind Saved the best until last. Another utterly beautiful Drone Rock Records splatter vinyl and cover combo, and the music completely lives up to it. Really lovely - sparkling.

Like Squid not done this for a few weeks as was away on a work trip to Chile. Deison & Mingle – Tiliaventum. Right up my street this one – an electronic album inspired by the Tagliamento River in NE Italy. It comes in a beautifully packaged box with a wrapped pebble from the river and a booklet with photos. Music’s good as well – (dark) ambient feel but beats appear too. Byron Westbrook – Body Consonance. I think Westbrook is a sound artist by trade. Interesting electronic album, in particular where all the darting electronics are underpinned by drone. Yair Elazar Glotman – Compound. Another sound artist I really like. Here he is back on his contrabass but playing in a trio (piano and percussion). Two side long pieces that has a Necks feel (given the instrumentation). KETEV – Trace of Weakness. Glotman’s post-techno project. Recorded using a Buchla Modular Synth. Love it. Slow Heart Music – This Body is Not Me. Lovely solo acoustic guitar album. Elodie – Vieux Silence. Gorgeous, timeless music released on Stephen O’Malley’s Ideologic Organ label. From the archives: Vesuvio – s/t
