A Saucerful Of Secrets (mono)
Dec 09, 2006, 06:50
1001realapes,

Yes, I've heard it.

Most noticeably differences are on:

"Set the Controls For The Heart Of the Sun" (vibes are more prominent)

"Corporal Clegg" (with the second rhythm guitar in the background absent altogether -- it's the same sonic picture as Smith's handling of "Baron Saturday")

"A Saucerful Of Secrets" (the introduction has more cymbal/chimes sounds; the way the drums enter on "Syncopated Pandemonium" as well as their prominence)

"See-Saw" (doesn't fade as early as the stereo)

"Jugband Blues" (right before the coda "And the sea isn't green...", the jagged Barrett guitar line goes on for a precious few seconds longer.)

Altogether, the record sounds subtly different if you know the stereo version really, really well.
