The Canadian Electric Bananas made sloppy, silly, punk inspired rock 'n' roll, their one claim to "fame" if you will was called "Mikey is a Ladies Man", which made it on to "It Came From Canada Vol.2" OG records comp. along side great bands like Deja Voodoo, the Gruesomes and Maggot Fodder

They're in Uncut, not Mojo. There is a feature on Julian in the next issue of Mojo, which comes with a Studio One CD. Looking forward to it!

you know, i met fatboy smith years & years ago after a cure gig & he said that the Go4 were the best live bend he'd ever seen bar none. There you go. Cure & Go4. In one sentence. I am such the devils advocate.

Oh boy, what a tough call this is ... post-punk is certainly one my fave eras on rock'n'roll, on both sides of the Atlantic ... but I will try, sticking only to british bands and disregarding bands like Chrome and Pere Ubu, who reached their peak during post-punk but emerged before the punk era. Let's go, in no order of preference: - PIL - Siouxsie and The Banshees - Bauhaus - TAGC - Gang of Four - 23 Skidoo - Pop Group - The Fall - Sex Gang Children - Wire

Not really sure why I never contributed to this thread when it was new, but I doubt that my current choices would have differed much from then anyway. For what it's worth, and in no order of merit, I'd choose: The Teardrop Explodes Echo and the Bunnymen (first five albums only) Magazine Joy Division Ultravox! (Foxx era only) Siouxsie and the Banshees Public Image Limited (Levine era only) XTC Adam and the Ants (up to 'Kings' only) The Fall I don't think Japan qualify, as they were far from anything I'd describe as "post-punk" up until 1980 or so. However, from that point...way hey.
