No I don't think the Social Contract can be broken using external excuses, its all a matter of conscience like you said. Either you're fully committed to it or you break it when it suits you.

Well youre very welcome to say I've self-appointed myself as a person who is not exempt from the rule.
Nowt inaccurate about that at all.

That's a subjective position though, which would depend entirely upon your interpretation of the social contract. I don't interpret it as requiring a dogmatic adherence to every single rule on every single occasion, therefore I am not breaking the social contract. Unless you can find somewhere where the social contract is etched in stone, then it's simply a matter of individual philosophy.

Now you're a self-appointed arbiter of what I can say you're self-appointed in. ;)

Like the bloke who was carving swastikas into dolmens? He thought what he was doing was fine, didn't he? It's all about interpretation, isn't it? ;)

Or those pesky women who fought for the right to vote? They should have stuck to the rules like everyone else instead of thinking they were special ;)

Whereas your comparison to deliberate vandalism was strictly like-for-like? ;)
