Perhaps contributors can name the art / artist in the title of their post? I have edited the thread so far to do this. The idea seems to work well in the Megalithic Poetry thread.
thanks

Not so much a favourite , couldn't find "Landscape of the Megaliths "
but a dash of lemon among the sweeter romanticism .

John Piper - Pentre Ifan
Oct 21, 2009, 12:08
Mention of Paul Nash - his Wittenham Clumps is'nt bad - made me remember John Piper, and there is a whole list of his pictures on the web...
Going through them, I see he has painted a lot in Wales, one of a pair of standing stones at Dyfed and another at Pentre Ifan, here he manages to capture the stones in a rather striking manner....

Mmmm! I absolutely LOVE John Piper and he's painted dolmens a-plenty. Check out his 'stones and bones' series if you can find them.

Saint Geneviève Guarding Her Sheep
Oct 21, 2009, 17:02
This is still one of my favourites: Saint Geneviève Guarding Her Sheep: 16th century. Musèe Carnavalet, Paris. Note the use of the circle as a corral - pity the sheep aren't porkies :-)

Wow! That is a good one. I would love to study that one up close for the details. What about the "porkies"? Do you just like pigs better than sheep?
