The Teardrop Explodes – Live at Trinity Hall, Bristol, 1979

This Mark 3 version of The Teardrop Explodes endured only through the summer and Autumn of 1979, powered on organ by Ged Quinn, who went on to help found The Wild Swans, thereafter becoming a world renowned painter. Our audience pulling-power had increased considerably in July ’79 when Sounds magazine put us on the front cover. Songs of particular note herein include the original version of ‘Treason’ on which the chorus only appears at the very end, and a long workout on ‘Poppies In The Field’, which had made its live debut just the night before at Bath University, when all our P.A. equipment had gone on the blink and we had been forced to jam!
