The Smile ‘A Light For Attracting Attention’ - so what if this sounds like Radiohead. It’s a belter of an album anyway;
Nikki Sudden ‘The Truth Doesn’t Matter’ - the 2021 revamp of Sudden’s final utterance turns an always good album into a masterpiece. Don’t miss this;
Julian Cope ‘Cunts Can Fuck Off’ - boding very well for his new album, this is as catchy as Covid with lyrics as accurate as they are hilarious;
Klaus Schulze ‘Picture Music’ - Klaus’ early epics like this defy the technological limits of their time with irresistible vibes;
Deniece Williams ‘When Love Comes Calling’ - funky, forgotten 1979 LP by the human nightingale that is Niecy;
Paul Desmond ‘Take Ten’ - I’m starting to realise that Desmond’s solo work is as mesmerising as his legacy with Brubeck. This is a fine example;
Ireland: The Forgotten Rite (Sinf of London/Wilson) - slower than the readings of Boult and Barbirolli from which I know this short, ethereal masterpiece, but still wonderful;
Beethoven: Egmont Overture (Chicago SO/Solti) - Solti is sadly out of fashion these days, but he was so much more than just a Wagner conductor. This late recording is a fine example: full of verve and hidden detail. Ever heard those closing piccolos so clearly defined?

Super sonics wished to all
