Heads up!
The third edition of the very cool Psychedelic Film & Music Festival opens on your computer screens this week! For obvious reasons the NYC event will be streaming live this year, beaming out to sequestered heads across the globe. It features four days of eclectic movies including ‘Embers of the Sun’, my short on Armenia’s sacred landscapes featuring an epic soundtrack by Urthona, repurposed for the film from ‘Urthona plays Atlantis?’, their inspired collaboration with Julian for ONE THREE ONE!
The festival takes place from January 14-17 and includes a mighty program of features and a ton of shorts in blocks titled “Surrealistic Edge”, “Mind Revolution,” “Myth, Magic, Madness”, “Groovy Times” (featuring a short doc about The Godz, btw), “Psychedelic Horror”, “Psychedelic Animation”, and “Visionary Landscapes”. Additional events include a live ‘psychedelic talk’ with ethnopharmacologist and author Dennis McKenna (brother of psych activist, Terence) on Saturday.
‘Embers of the Sun’ tops the Visionary Landscapes block on Sunday the 17th. Neil Mortimer of Urthona and I will be taking part in a Q & A afterwards.
