It started with Julian wearing NEU! vest on Top of the Pops, which was quite inspiring to those in the know - NEU! were a frequent soundtrack to heavy acid trips in the early 70s for me; Neu! 75 was great too but slightly out of the timeframe. The first response to Klaus's letter I knew of was the simple but succinct "Dinger, You're a donger" which was perfect.

Despite Klaus's paranoia I think his later releases through Capt Trips in Japan are mostly wonderful. When NEU! split my ears took me the Rother route, and I still find La Dusseldorf generally falls short, but Klaus was always the anarchist of the group and ultimately his later recordings make a more valuable archive, though comparisons still 'ode'.
