Message to Seth Man from an old reviewer
May 05, 2020, 00:08
Hi Seth Man, years ago I posted reviews on here under the username Joe Kenney, which coincidentally happens to be my name. It's been so long since I've been on this forum I couldn't remember my login creds, so I registered a new account.

Anyway man, I just wanted to say thanks for your awesome Book of Seth reviews; I read them religiously back in the day but I've been hitting them again over the past months and you've led me to some great stuff. For example Bob Seger's "Ramblin Gamblin Man," which is one of my favorite "new" records in a long time. I guess back in the day I ignored this review because it's, you know, Bog Seger and all. But man, what a blast of fuzzed-out psych awesomeness! And I only learned about it because I was going through the Book of Seth archive and finally clicked on your review for it. These days I try to get everything on vinyl, like I've regressed or something (a lot of it has to do with getting a "real" turntable finally -- a Pioneer PL-518). I didn't get an original pressing but a 1980 repress that sounds great regardless...near mint vinyl, so I guess even back then people ignored this LP.

Another review of yours I ignored back then was for the Grand Funk "Red" album...good grief, how could I have gone this long without hearing it? And back when I was posting on here I was obsessed with Black Sabbath-esque groups. But again, I probably ignored this particular review of yours because of my own preconceived notions about Grand Funk. That one I did get an original pressing of, and it sounds great!

Anyway thanks again!

I haven't posted a review on here in forever but if anyone's interested I did do a few "record review roundups" on my blog, of obscure/overlooked albums that some of you might dig:
