I didn't know a whole lot about them, though I remember owning their first album Tweeze, and much later (cos of Albini/Shellac) found Spiderland, which seemed like a whole different band. Had no idea hey were so querky, daft and off the wall, as you expect music like this to be a bunch of self aware chin stokers. Gotta say tho, still prefer The For Carnation album over and above Slints stuff (to which mucho thanks to Keith A for introducing it to me). Till viewing the film, I had no idea that they (well most of Slint) went on to to back Will Oldham and I suppose become Palace Brothers Et Al. Totally different sound again.
