The Shepherd Man (any clues send my way...)
Mar 02, 2018, 18:21
So on my radio show Wednesday I got an interesting call from someone asking me about a record entitled the Shepherd Man dating from 1961. I am in the process of hunting down more info about this on bequest of the man who called me. So far I have whittled it down to singing duo Louis Prima and Keely Smith having done a version of the said song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMnWb27XHfQ

Anyways I thought I would share this on HH, and if anyone would send me any more clues about this record it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you...

So so far I haven't found anybody else besides the duo of Louis Prima and Keely Smith who have recorded this song. I did find out the songwriting credits and indeed it was Prima who co-wrote it. And also the song was originally from 1960 and a b-side to another single from that earlier date.

thinks it's Shepherd Boyd you may be looking for from Louis Prima With Keely Smith – Breaking It Up, 1958

That's evidently not the same song. Well I'm going to call the guy later tonight and tell him my findings regarding this. Turns out the main single is listed on Discogs but there's no copies for sale, but the earlier version with the track on the b-side is listed as being available...

So I talked to the guy for some more clues. Might be there is a regional record with that song floating around...
