Making an effort to discover new or obscure music

I've recently realised that I seem to be becoming somewhat conservative in my listening tastes (if an almost constant musical diet of Soft Boys, Gong, Shirley Collins and Crawling Chaos, as it seems to have been for the last week, could be considered 'conservative'). Point is, I've been coming back to artists whose oeuvre I already know rather than taking a leap in the dark. I'm lucky enough to live a mere bus ride away from a couple of venues that regularly put on 'head' sounds so I can get an idea of what the contemporary freak scene is, but so much stuff, old and new, slips under the radar.

Hence the New Year's resolution.

For the month of January, every day, 'grab' an album by a band I've never heard of, going alphabetically from 'a'..

Continue. When letters run out, start on numbers.

We're now on January 16th. I'm a bit behind... but at least I now know what

Albergo Intergalattico Spazial
Buldozer
The Cumberland Three
Daisuck & Prostitute
Eggs & Dogs
Fright Pig
Gordon Grody
Hemp Acrimony
Isildur's Bane

and Jacula sound like.

Admittedly I've gone for bands/artists with arresting names.
