Mine will be a Stanley Brothers compi and a King Crimson cover copy of Prog unless they reopen for a liquidation sale or something. Going to miss the cheaper magazine prices there., among other things. Stevo

The Fopp staff in Manchester seemed quite jolly on Friday amongst all the Blue X stickers and impending doom.

But will they stock records, again? Or is this just so the public can carry on buying Bruce Willis DVDs?

Update from a Fopp bloke today. He said they were finding out this week which shops, including HMV's, if any, were going to remain open and that they, as in Fopp, were quietly confident of their survival in some form or other 'cos all the Fopp shops make dosh. Fingers crossed!

Fingers crossed! I do hope so as it might help reduce my out of control spending on music and monkey stuff a little bit

Fingers crossed! A slightly gloomier picture from Jimmy TOTS on Friday. He works at HMV and stated there was likely to be a wider knock-on effect on independent music in relation to distribution etc. That could increase pressure further - at least I believe that was his argument. And on a related note a friend who has a guitar workshop on Denmark St said the shops and 12 Bar were under threat in relation to the Crossrail development. There's a tiny alley behind the 12 Bar and they want to widen it cutting it and the guitar shops in half! The powers that be want boutiques apparently...

You can't halve the stage in 12Bar! There'd just be room for an effects pedal doing a solo gig!!
