Surely one of the very few positives about getting old is the freedom, the exhilarating liberation, to say "I like (insert certain song of your choice here) and I don't give a fuck!" Aye, I remember the looks exchanged between members of my old band when I said, with dewy eyes, that the piano intro on the long version of 'Bat out of Hell' is one of the greatest things i've ever heard.

Ugh, I forgot Bryan Adams. Is there any good reason such a buffoon is still alive? Canadian rock at its worst.

Viewers of the X Factor will, of course, be aware that they are, in fact, called 'ballids'. (c) the Wisdom of Tulisa Contostavlos

Ah! THAT cover!! I was still living with my parents when that record came out and I used to take a few records downstairsso I could play them on their stereo as it was somewhat superior to my little record player upstairs. Anyway, every time I'd go to put Fanx Tara away I could never find the cover straight away even though I always left the cover of what was playing at the front of the stack for ease. I eventually found out that my Mum kept hiding this one amongst the other sleeves as she didn't want anyone to see the cover (the cleavage more than the sexism I think!) should they look through our living room window!

Hmmm ... let's see how watertight your conviction is. I like "Milennium Prayer" by Cliff Richard and I don't give a fuck! God bless you my son, for enjoying the fruits of Sir Cliff. Though, lying is a sin you know The only way you could be a bigger fibber is if you said "I love Seven Nation Army" 8^)

Seb wrote: Nice topic. A power ballad shouldn't bore you, it should make you want to secretly weep whilst punching the air. The following power ballads bore me to fucking tears and I despise them for it. And although Aerosmith ballsed up their career with all the sodding ballads, their ballads aren't actually all that bad, they're better than most. Tyler has an artful way with a middle-eight, see The Reason a Dog from Done With Mirrors or Hole in my Soul from Nine Lives. Power Ballads should also spur you on to success and the eventual fulfilment of your dreams against all adversity, maybe in some kind of montage moment. I had "Dream on" in my headphones when I went to the shops and got loads of stuff done. Even bought a lottery ticket on the way home! Didn't win anything so I stuck on "Alone" by Heart to get through it. Agree entirely re: The 'Smiths. Tyler does have a dab hand with a crusty heart-wrencher. It's when they got all Diane Warranised and the dollars rolled in they went to plop. It's still not too late for them to rock the fuck out.

Speaking of fromageathons, does anyone else think the opening verse to "A Little Bit More" by Dr Hook is just a bit....creeeeeeeeeeepy. "When your body's had enough of me And I'm layin' flat out on the floor When you think I've loved you all I can I'm gonna love you a little bit more" Trans - When I've shagged you bandy, and you're totally wrecked and think we're done for the night, I'm gonna have another crack atcha' and you won't be able to do anything about it. My mum used to like that song. 8^(
