Roger Dean has gone through the cool/uncool mill so many times it's more than confusing than a flying mountain. But, it is just classicaly well delineated, quirky and beautiful and timless imagery as far as I'm concerned. He did loads of the organic/mechanic thing years before it became a fantasy/sci-fi staple and thee "Yes" logo is, simply, one of the most brilliant and evocative logos ever drawn. My dad had the albums (until I knicked 'em obviously) and I just remember that the sleeves and that logo were so sumptuous that I just wanted to hear the music. Plus, let's face it, Avatar was practically a Yes album cover with Dances With Wolves thrown at it.
