On the actual disc of the Jehovahcoat Demos, the final instrumental piece, 'Julian the Apostate' is credited to Richard Sanderson (1979). Anyone know anything about this Mr Sanderson or the origins of the song? There's a wikipedia entry for a soundtrack composer of the same name, but it left me little the wiser.

Thanks- it all makes sense now! Interesting... presumably then, with the date being 1979, 'Julian the Apostate' is a retitled cover of one of the songs from the Drop tape? I see that's available to listen to on Richard's blog, so I'll check it out later.

I let Richard hear an except from the song and his response was

""Mystery solved it's "Hollow Call" by Drop - well the bassline from it anyway...it's actually from 1978!

The 1978 version of "Hollow Call" is here...
http://alonetone.com/drop/tracks/hollow-call

The similarity is fairly tenuous - it's the bass-line, that's all...""

Excellent stuff! I can definitely hear the similarity. Really enjoying listening to the Drop 'Definitive' tape, too.

A message from Richard.....

""You might want to mention that Drop is an operating combo again, with original 1979 line-up.

Message to Gareth and Dave - yes, I'm reading it, and I'm very well thank you! Be nice to see you again some time.""

Check out Richards blog bagrec on LiveJournal. Always an interesting read
