Your Top Bowie tracks
Jan 08, 2010, 12:15
This being the start of a new decade and all that, thoughts of sad (male) people like me sometimes turn to pointless list making. So, in the spirit of that, and in recognition of the Thin White Duke's 63rd birthday (thanks Jim), I'd like to humbly propose the following:

Your Top Bowie tracks.

I've not proposed restricting the list to a particular number of songs, since I have a more practical option in mind: compiling your own 80 minute CD-R of your favourite Bowie tracks. Thus the number of songs you choose will depend upon how long each song lasts. The only other qualification I'd suggest is that you love 'em all.

Here's mine, in no particular order (though the first named happens to be my favourite Bowie track by some distance):

Sweet Thing/Candidate/Sweet Thing Reprise
The Bewlay Brothers
Heroes
Unwashed and Somewhat Slightly Dazed
The Jean Genie
She Shook Me Cold
Sound & Vision
Moonage Daydream
It's No Game (No.1)
Width Of A Circle
Lady Stardust
Memory Of A Free Festival
Five Years
Big Brother/Chant of the Ever Circling Skeletal Family
Queen Bitch

Total time (per iTunes) 79:36.

All the above are standard studio versions, by the way - though I'm going for the 'Christiane F' version of Heroes that goes into German half-way.

As Keith Barratt would say, it's just a bit of fun. Tell you what though, it makes a beltin' CD for the car, copyright issues notwithstanding.

Have fun!

Easy answer... 'Changes One'

One of the best of the 'best of' collections anyone's ever put out.

Hey Fitter, good idea, great fun.

btw- you will get more into the Deram period- it's marvellous!

Like most Bowie nuts, the track choices can change any second in any different day

Rather than pick what I generally think of my faves (Life On Mars, Jean Genie, Sound & Vision, etc) I've just waded through my weekly playlists etc and looked at what Bowie tracks I've enjoyed enough to give them a mention. So an interesting (?) tracklisting rather than a definitive one!

Sorrow
Fame
Fascination
Sweet Thing
Diamond Dogs
Rebel Rebel
Neukoln
The Secret Life Of Arabia
In The Heat Of The Morning
The Voyeur Of Utter Destruction
Thru These Architect’s Eyes
I’m Deranged

Blue Jean
The Laughing Gnome
China Doll
Beauty & The Beast
Sons Of The Silent Age
Joe the Lion
