i just signed a new record contract, and our next album is released internationally on 2 Nov. I have to say that the excitement about that is tempered by a mild terror about reading negative reviews in mojo or pitchfork, but i guess it's all part of life's rich pageant...

Puuh!!! :-)

I've made a lot of noise (too) in the past...

This is maybe the right stuff for the heads ears, here...:

Group called 'Ascension'.

And the material here is cuttin' at the "Free Flow Festival, 2009", near Gorleben. A Festival for improvised Music and Art. And against the radioactive Castor Madness, there.

We've played our individual set, above, but also jammin' together with "Embryo", "Der Berg groovt", "Strom" and others. (Sometimes with 20 Musicians on Stage!) The whole thing was a massive Experience!

It's a bit LoFi and really weird, but ...hope you'll enjoy it!

for those not familiar, Rainbow Quartz is a New York-based psych label that's been going for 10 years, and has the High Dials, The June and loads of great bands.

Acoustic guitar and vocals. (I used to also play blues harp and mandolin in the past as well, although a bit rusty now I'd imagine). Still singing and playing for fun, mainly eclectic folk/psyche/rock/blues covers.

I'm not actually sure I'd quite agree, Squid. The 'Proxima' records of earlier this year show you're veering into new waters. But still waters run deep.

Steve Palmer at Terrascope wrote:
...you will love the new release "Proxima" by Black Tempest, a.k.a. Stephen Bradbury. Combining the best of analogue sequencing with drifting chords, vintage synth effects and tasteful guitars and bass, I loved this. Split into three sections covering 52 minutes, the album takes all the best bits of the Berlin School and reworks those parts into analogue heaven; specifically that provided by Moog, Doepfer and Roland. The sequences don't outstay their welcome, as can be the case with new BS material, and the overall form of the three compositions is very pleasing. Electric guitar parts are subtle and don't (as could be the case with a certain Mr Froese) overwhelm the tracks. I suppose "Phaedra" would be the nearest sonic comparison.

I'm in the process of trying to set up a loose co-operative of enthusiasts into a psychedelic jam band called Magic Exploding Super Spectrum (or MESS for short) to do monthly "happenings" down the local. It gets a bit bleak in the winter out where I am and I reckon a bit of groovy spacey weirdness with bubble lamps and strobes could be just the ticket to get through the bleakness mentally unscathed. It may or may not come together but what the hell...
