Why do it ? Publicity i'd guess, i'd never heard of Catasto Elettrico before but i have now. Would i have investigated a 21st century jazz fusion release ? Hmm, it's highly unlikely. Would i check out a lost 70's masterpiece from a troubled guitar prodigy with a penchant for Pete Cosey's work and on Columbia , Miles Davis label at that time ? You betcha !

Absolutely! I heard about this one and it seemed too good to be true.

The title "Shaft in Afghanistan" is way too future-perfect-hip for 1974 if you think about it -- but a perfect cliche-title for this decade.

I came across a "long lost Scott Walker / David Bowie collaboration" online once, and it turned out to be some contemporary LA band with a jones for late-70's Berlin sounds.

A clever hoax definitely gets attention.
