I think the Stones got past their Chuck style very early on. Paint It Black, to pick a 60's song at random, has very little to do with Chuck. And actually, even their debut album probably owes as much if not more to the likes of Jimmy Reed than it does to Berry.

As for your second point, yeah people thought like that back then didn't they?

But I am surprised from what I know of your tastes that you don't like the Stones. Are you being wilfully perverse?
