My earliest memory was being sat in my pram (when prams was proper prams, none of this bugaboo malarkey...) in the hallway. I remember the doll I had with me and the dreadful carpet offcuts that served as floor covering in that house. It was probably 1971 though so not really relevant to a thread about 1967 (but thought it worth a mention anyway...) Wasn't a fear related memory though (unless the carpet freaked me out, and it WAS a bad carpet...) and can't think why I should've remembered it. But I do.

You listened to some of the best pop music ever recorded on the radio, feasted on crab meat and lived in a low-traffic environment - that's a very idyllic picture you're painting there BH!

Good call on Good Vibrations, it sounded like it was made on instruments that had only just been invented, it just sounded so different to everythng else i'd heard. Still does to a degree !

Don't remember the FA cup final but i vaguely recollect the World Cup final in '66 . I seem to recall going to somebody elses house to watch it ( we only had a radiogram at the time ) and all the adults getting incredibly excited by the pictures on the tiny TV. Like Vienna, it meant nothing to me !

Think that's one of my earliest memories too.

Yeah, i was very lucky to be exposed to such great music in my formative years. I still love most of those records today, dunno if they fashioned my tastes for years to come or that i just suffer from arrested development, i suspect the latter !

BTW, there was a Matt Munro doc on TV last night, blimey, i should have mentioned the lush Born Free too, hehe.

Got no recollection of the WC unfortunately, even if I do vaguley recall watching the '66 FA Cup Final. My dad has said he had no interest in the WC, so I suppose that's the reason!

I first heard GV wafting from a radio in a shop that was on the high street in Mold - I was entranced!
Especially as it was a dull winters day IIRC, yet it was the sound of pure sunshine!!

No, quite the opposite really. Its the rest of my life that has been dictated by fear. Fear and Loathing in Stoke-on-Trent...
