Diabolo´s Rising is the only name that really comes to mind now and it was some 10-15 years i last heard it,never been my piece of the cake really(black metal i mean). Oh and Burzum and Mayhem of course............................yea and maybe some of Cadaverous Condition(if you can call them such, may be they´re more death, but anyway).

Celtic Frost trivia. "Visions of Mortality", "Dethroned Emperor" and "Necromantical Screams" were actually written by Hellhammer. The latter two originally worked as "The Power of Satan" and "Buried And Forgotten" respectively. Satyricon probably deserve to be in the list somewhere. "Dark Medieval Times" is generally considered a classic of the genre. I hear French Black Metal is where it's at right now.

Gotta put in a word for Kveldsjanger by Ulver. Totally of that scene if not Black Metal per se. Doomy as fuck and despite being acoustic much darker than the absurd Nattens Madrigal. Kveldsjanger is to Black Metal what Thank You is to Immigrant Song. Probably.

Basically what Chaosmonger said. Also a couple of good ones from Finland: Satanic Warmaster Clendestine Blaze And Vlad Tepes are cool too.

I was never a big Satyricon fan, that's why I left them off my list. I think they're quite mediocre, actually. As for French BM, Deathspell Omega is ok but they're also kind of overrated hehe. Best BM album of last year was probably Katharsis - VVorld VVithout End. Mike
