Re: The Small Faces + Thoughts of Madness
Dec 16, 2006, 12:21
Just today, on Radio 2's 'Sound of the 60's', they played 'Lazy Sunday Afternoon', and later The Kink's 'Waterloo Sunset'.
I thought, how overrated are the blody Kinks?
The Small Faces are as over familiar, but I thought that song still sounded great, and The Kinks sounded like they were all falling asleep.
Lethargic vocals, duff musical setting.
For my money, Madness are far better pop tunesmiths than The Kinks anyday (especially, and unusual for any pop band, in their senior years with all those great melancholy tunes), and probably as underrated as The Small Faces.
And it was so exciting as a kid: OH BAGGY TROUSERS!
