i just had to let you know i,m from from hemel originally and used to go to those woods partys with chillum squad and others.
it wasn't the singer for the odd eccentric who wore the mirror jacket. it was paul human, the frontman for the late road lunatics who got the mirrors off his bathrrom wall and stuck them on. they used to play the mean fiddler regularly,
the bass player from odd eccentric colin, is with a band with frontman from hemel steve wilson, who tour the world i think and are called porcupine tree.
love to get some chillum squad stuff, if you can get any plaese let me know. [email protected]

My mates will's Dad was asked to play guitar in Ian Anderson's band when they were at school together in Blackpool. He turned down the offer because he had exams to do (or so the legend goes)...
There was a Blackpool band in the early 90s called Erase Today, never saw 'em libe but they stuck 'Erase Today' stickers all over the country...
I think someone out of Gaye Bikers on Acid lives in Blackpool.
Oh and Robert Smith and Chris Lowe went to the same school as my mate CraigD....
And of course Earthling Society

Newport used to be rife with bands a few years back, some of the more popular were The Ab's, 60ft Dolls, Novocaine and Rollerco. There was a huge scene in the 90's, but unfortunately it's dwindled.

Three locals I love to see now:

The Suit -- zero guitars, 3 bassists and a drummer! Heavy as hell!!

The Skintones -- remind me of Melvins, Nomeansno, and other wacky heavy punk power trios.

Bleed -- ugly galoots who sound like Black Flag playing Them songs! Records not too impressive, but on a good night they are ca-razy live. (Not to be confused with the metal band of the same name from New Jersey.)

(mp3's of all of the above at the respective sites -- cool, looks like Bleed did a WFMU gig!)

Jameson Raid

Mid-70's to early 80's Midlands rock outfit who managed to get lumbered with the NWOBHM, but were much classier than most of that lot.

Vaguely remember a band called Angelic Toad and another lot called Shagnasty who threw fish around the stage as part of their live act. Probably says more me than it does about the Croydon live music scene but there was a lot of live music going on when I lived there and I saw a lot of it too (The Cartoon springs to mind as a venue). Thing is NONE of it (except for the fish being thrown round when Shagnasty played) was that memorable. Oh yeah and there was a band called Fajitas that were quite good. I've prolly pronounced that wrong though...
