Flaming heck! that was gorgeous! Power, passion and all things unconsolable! I see you're a Deal fan, Nat, so this is for you - from the only Breeders album in my collection (its on tape somewhere, and I do miss it so): Spitting in a wishing well Blown to hell... crash I'm the last splash I know you, little libertine I know you're a real koo koo Hey now, hey now, ... Want you, Koo Koo, Cannonball [2x] In the shade [4x] I know you, little libertine I know you're a cannonball I'll be you're whatever you want The bong in this Reggae Song Hey now, hey now, ... Want you, Koo Koo, Cannonball [2x] In the shade [4x] Spitting in a wishing well Blown to hell... crash I'm the last splash I'll be you're whatever you want The bong in this Reggae Song Hey now, hey now, ... Want you, Koo Koo, Cannonball [2x] In the shade [4x] Peace Pilgrim X

Thank you Pilgrim! Yeah I'm a weeee bit of a Kim/Kelley/4AD/Kristen/Tanya fan ;o) xxx This is the most beautiful beautiful song in the whole wide world and is Kim Deal with Tanya Donnelly - You and Your Sister... tis beautiful. I'd definitely look out for it if you are a Deal fan... :o) You say my love for you's not real But you don't know how real it feels All I want to do is to spend some time with you So I can hold you, hold you Your sister says that I'm no good I'd reassure her if I could All I want to do is to spend some time with you So I can hold you, hold you Plans fail every day I'd want to hear you say Your love won't be leaving Your eyes aren't deceiving Fears will soon fade away Smile now, don't be afraid All I want to do is to spend some time with you So I can hold you, hold you So let me whisper in your ear Don't you worry they can't hear All I want to do is to spend some time with you So I can hold you, hold you

Ta, verily, Nat......it is truly beautiful, as you say. Is the version on a particular collection? As far as alternative love songs go, I like 'em angsty. Apropos of that, I "got into" the Foo Fighters year before last - couldn't touch them before, because of the whole grim Cobain thing: my hang-up; my JFK moment. Anyway, from "The Colour and the Shape", for your generosity, I give you: Everlong Hello I've waited here for you Everlong Tonight I throw myself into And out of the red, out of her head she sang Come down And waste away with me Down with me Slow how You wanted it to be I'm over my head, out of her head she sang Chorus- And I wonder When I sing along with you If everything could ever feel this real forever If anything could ever be this good again The only thing I'll ever ask of you You've got to promise not to stop when I say when She sang Verse 2- Breathe out So I could breathe you in Hold you in And now I know you've always been Out of your head, out of my head I sang Chorus- And I wonder When I sing along with you If everything could ever feel this real forever If anything could ever be this good again The only thing I'll ever ask of you You've got to promise not to stop when I say when She sang Chorus- And I wonder If everything could ever feel this real forever If anything could ever be this good again The only thing I'll ever ask of you You've got to promise not to stop when I say when She sang ..to me it's beauty: layered, constant and energetic in a tight envelope - it reminds me of "Rearviewmirror" but without the slow build. Oh, flip: I've got to go and find that now......and cook the tea! Peace Pilgrim X

Yeah, it's just a shame we can't play a sample to accompany our posts, isn't it? Like (I think) Rolling Ronnie said - without music, the world means nothing. Personally, I consider myself lucky to have run the whole gamut in the last 35 years: from T-Rex, Sweet, ELP, Deep Purple, Peter Frampton, Judas Priest, The Doctors of Madness, Punk - The Ramones, The Undertones, Joy Division, Siouxsie, Talk Talk and through to today: Trance, Progressive House, Deep Dish, Moby, Global Underground, Grunge and good ol' R&R, good music drives me on and on and on..... which is why I enjoy it here! peace Pilgrim X

I was a p.f.c. on a search patrol, huntin’ charlie down It was in the jungle wars of ’65 My weapon jammed and I got stuck way out and all alone And I could hear the enemy movin’ in close outside Just then I heard a twig snap and I grabbed my empty gun And I dug in scared while I counted down my fate And then a big marine a giant, with a pair of friendly eyes¨ Appeared there at my shoulder and said wait. When he came in close beside me, he said don’t worry, son, I’m here If charlie wants to tangle now, he’ll have two to dodge I said, well, thanks a lot! I told him my name and asked him his And he said the boys just call me camouflage Chorus: Woah-oh-oh-oh, camouflage Things are never quite the way they seem Woah-oh-oh-oh, camouflage I was awfully glad to see this big marine Well, I was gonna ask him where he came from, when we heard the bullets fly Comin’ through the brush, and all around our ears It was then I saw this big marine light a fire in his eye And it was strange, but suddenly, I forgot my fears Well, we fought all night, side by side, we took our battle stance And I wondered how the bullets missed this man ’cause they seemed to go right through him just as if he wasn’t there And in the mornin’ we both took a chance and ran And it was near the riverbank when the ambush came on top of us And I thought it was the end, and we were had Then a bullet with my name on it came buzzin’ through a bush And that big marine, he just swat it with his hand Just like it was a fly... Chorus: Woah-oh-oh-oh, camouflage Things are never quite the way they seem Woah-oh-oh-oh, camouflage This was an awfully strange (big) marine {spoken} And I knew there was somethin’ weird about him, ’cause when I turned around, He was pullin’ a big palm tree up outta the ground And swattin’ those charlies with it from here to kingdom come When he led me outta danger I saw my camp and waved goodbye He just winked at me from the jungle and then was gone When I got back to my h.q., I told ’em about my night And the battle I’d spent with a big marine named camouflage When I said his name, the soldier gulped, and a medic took my arm And led me to a green tent on the right He said you may be tellin’ true, boy, but this here is camouflage And he’s been right here since he passed away last night In fact, he’s been here all week long... But before he went, he said semper fi, and said his only wish Was to save a young marine caught in a barrage So here, take his dog tag, son, I know he’d want you to have it now And we both said a prayer for a big marine named camouflage Chorus repeat So next time you’re in a jungle fight, and you feel a presence near Or hear a voice that in your mind will lodge Just be thankful that you’re not alone¨c¨cyou’ve got some company From a big marine the boys call camouflage Chorus repeat x2 Hup, hey-ho, hey, left... left... Woah, woah, camouflage Hey, hey-ho, ho, left... left... Woah, woah, camouflage Repeat endlessly until fade...

Went to a market on me hols and they had a few record stalls. Got a Stan Ridgway album with Camouflage on it, which I've wanted for years. I'm a sucker for those songs with a story! Just wish JohnnyCash had done a version!!
