it's a vastly different album to the first. more mature, great tunes, fantastic lyrical flow and a gripping story. it's easily the best mainstream album released in uk this year and deserves the prize. zutons are chancers, they need a haircut.

I take it you all hate Belle & Sebastian then? : ) Couldn't stand the Franz Ferdinand album - and -according to the beeb site - they are faves to win! Hmmmm.......

Can't remember who won? It was Pulp. I remember that year cos I'd put a bet on them and I won about £40 or £50.

At a push ,having heard all those, I'd probably go for Basement Jaxx. I like both the Streets and Wyatt's albums but neither are their best IMO.

....i'd give the prize to Josef K for 'the only fun in town' rather than the Franz Ferdinand album. Failing that, I'd give it to a busker i saw in Madrid last year.

I don't hate Belle and Sebastian - I love 'em. Haven't heard the latest album yet though.... x
