'82 was at Deeside - only went one night - Danse Society, Southern Death Cult, Nico, Dead Or Alive (who came on a different stage just as Nico was about to come back for an encore and looked like she was gonna cry - so did my Nico-loving mate!!) and The Damned. Think New Order headlined the other night, though I could be mistaken.

JJ jumped off stage n' whacked someone who'd thrown a pint at him. But that seems to happen so often at Stranglers gigs, I wonder if they employ someone to do it n' pay 'em danger money! No celery insertions at any of the gigs I saw... but there was a spanking incident during School Man!!

Saw Johnny Clarke a while back too, which was a real treat... love the stuff he did for Bunny Lee n' the Aggrovators stuff that King Tubby dubbed up. Most disappointing gig was Lee Scratch Perry at the Hackney Ocean 2 or 3 years ago. T'was good to see him in the flesh, but his backing band were tepid and really spoiled much of it. Still... Iration Steppas supported and were amazing.

Saw AMT with Circle at the Concorde 2 in Brighton - must have been part of the same tour. That was excellent indeed. The next time I saw them however, they were bloody awful... x

but definitely one of the most memorable was Happy Flowers in a social club in Wincheap Industrial Estate near Canterbury. It was double booked with a bingo night next door, and the proprietor wasn't too happy when he saw Mr Anus wandering around topless with WANKER written across his beergut! 'Hey d'you know Get Paul's Head?' 'No' 'Shit. Neither do I and I gotta play it tonight' x
