Cope @ Wolves - 20 Mothers. 96?
3 hours of intense Copedom!

Bauhaus, Digbeth Civic Hall, 1980?
Support to Magazine. Lasted 20 minutes before having to flee the stage having whipped the boneheads at the front into a near riot! Devoto and his boys were good, but too late, they'd been blown away!

Peter Perrett & the One - Manc. Roadhouse 90s
So beautiful, I got onstage and kissed him!

Gavin Friday - Manc. Royal Music College? 80s
Fantastic theatre; voice, piano, cello and oboe/bass.

Teardrops - Staffs Poly 1980?
4 encores! We wouldn't let them offstage!

Ooh, too many!

Futurama

Used to love these.

'79 in Leeds was the best line up - very Zoo and Factory. Sadly, I didn't get to go to this one...

'80 was in Leeds again. Siouxsie headlining. Early incarnation of Soft Cell way down the bill. Bunnymen played again.

'81 at Bingley Hall, Stafford. Virgin Prunes made the daily papers with their 'shoving bread up their arses' antics on stage.

Then it moved to Europe, I seem to recall...

I went to one at Queen's Hall Bradford, '87. Primal Scream headlining in their Ivy Ivy Ivy phase, plus my first experience of The Fall, and James, Bradford (not labradford) and I can't remember who else.

captain beefheart at guildford civic hall ooh over 20 years ago now. astonishing and got to meet him after. he signed my ticket which is still a prize possession. some lame-o geezer asked him to draw a giraffe for his daughter which the caotain did on a brown paper bag. when the guy looked at hime he said 'wow, that's amazing, nearly as good as van gogh.' at which capt beefheart took it off him and ripped it up. 'come see me again when i'm better than van gogh' he replied. my mate nyge taught captain the phrase 'fandabidozi' as a superlative. the krankies were big in our personal mythology all those years ago.

also notable were
joy division supporting buzzcocks, again at guildford civic
jane's addiction at marquue secret gig to promote ritual de lo habitual
brian wilson at birmingham symphony hall (twice, but first time's always the best)
squarepusher downstairs at blue note when he'd just started. literally (well not literally) tore the roof off
flaming lips at birmingham academy in 2002
rem @ wembly arena for green tour - i had a front row seat. stipe at his most charismatic
grateful dead at wembley for halloween. good seat and great acid bought in the car park
x

I went to the Bingley Hall Futurama

23 Skidoo were really good, as were UK Decay and Bauhaus

Gang of Four were good with Sara Lee on Bass, Allen having gone to Shriekback of course...

...but we hot-footed out of their before Simple Minds took to the stage, not my bag I'm afraid
