Wow! Someone else likes Ultimate Spinach? Didn't actually vote for them in my top 25 as there wasn't room, but I was startibng to think I was the only one on this site who thought they were any cop...

Also, Petermaxx, I noticed that your list consitutes the third time "Forever Changes" has turned up at number two. What's the betting it's gonna be number two on the final list as well?

Heh heh ,
and probably their only vote too, couldn't help it though I love that album and their second, the auld hippy fart I am. Feeling a bit guilty I didn't include Forever Changes though, mebbe one of the Amon Duul II albums could have gone in its favour, I should have done a one band one vote I think.

Know the feeling. Think I'm the only one who voted for Kaliedoscope's wonderful "Side Trips" as well. This is all part of the reason I thought it might be interesting if Dog listed all the albums that only got one vote.

Hey guys --

First of all, I really shouldn't give any hints as to the results -- but I will tell you Forever Changes is not going to be #2 on the final list (though it probably will be in the top 5.)

((just teasing & whetting your appetites here, heh heh!))

As for the list as it currently stands -- there are 224 albums that have received multiple votes. These are fairly well discriminated (meaning easy to rank vs. each other) so I am leaning towards making it a "Top 224 List."

Then there are another 659 albums that have only received one vote apiece. Since there isn't much to discriminate them, there are a lot of "ties" and it doesn't make much sense to me to present these as a ranked list (with a 194-way tie at #440, what's the point?)

I'll have to talk to the drood who's going to post and host the list and see what he might be willing to do about including these additional albums. I'm thinking it would be nice to include everybody's original lists of 25, though that might be more work than he's willing to do (56 lists = 56 more web pages???!)

Keep making suggestions, and we'll hash it out somehow. It's a work in progress!

Thanks!

Suggestion:

Since this is a website that specializes in music more on the obscure side (that is, unsung music), I would like to see the albums that fall at the bottom of the list.

As much as I'm interested in finding out how Forever Changes ranks (for me it was #2), I am hoping this list will lead me to music I have never before considered.

To that end, after this vote is complete, might I suggest another? How about the "Unsung Top 100 Albums"? People could vote for their favorite albums that did not appear in the top 500 (or whatever permutation the current list becomes).

Oh good grief!! This first list/poll caused enough trouble as it is! (I think you're new here and missed the "fun" . . . lucky you!)

(Mostly just kidding!) ;-)

I agree with your general sentiment though, the more interesting items on the list will be the ones lower down that not as many people are aware of. At the same time a plain old list of 1000 albums isn't very useful by itself. There is some real crap in there among the jewels -- anyone could participate and vote for anything they wanted, so there is stuff like Busted, Sugababes and Westlife in there (Whoever they are! Britbubblegum I'm guessing -- don't think I really want to know.)

Still sorting out exactly what to do with the results. Thanks for the input.

And as far as doing more polls like this go -- anyone who wants to can propose & run one, but I don't plan to volunteer for anything like that for awhile. Your mission, should you choose to accept it . . . . !

How about ignoring anything with more than one vote? As long as it's down the bottom of someones list...

No CC or fatima Mansions?

Meant to say, like your 69 review. Don't agree with much of it, but good reading

How about including only the albums no-one has voted for?
