Living in a nation obsessed by the cult of personality as I do (and being ever incredulous at the blandness of its media's chosen "heroes") I got to thinking about the people behind so many of my musical highs. And I thought, of all my own aural heroes, who would I most like to have a beer with? Leaving aside Richard Sinclair (who I DID have a beer with at the Kent Beer Festival, simper simper), it would have to be Robert Wyatt for me. One of music's rare nice guys, intelligent and erudite and not afraid to speak his considered mind. I dare say Copey might be decent company as well. Definitely not Van Morrison though. Or Mark E. Smith.

Never met a rock star yet I'd like to spend much time around (liable laws prevent me giving details!!)... I'd imagine Mick Farren would have a good tale or two to tell. Would have loved to have met Henry Moore the sculptor.

Cathal Coughlan. Unfortunately, he doesn't drink anymore.

I think there might be a bit of a queue for those three, Nat. personally I think Mark E Smith might actually be hilarious to have a pint with. |

Not sure if I'd fancy a pint with an established muso type, cept as LL says the genius Mark E smith. Would rather get legless and other things with Will Self.

I reckon a long weekend on the piss (etc) w/ the Strokes would produce a clutchful of anecdotes worthy of retelling in the Hall of Heroes – so, they get my vote. A few mojitos w/ Kylie would be a close second.

Sorry Stray, that my last post shouldn't have been attached to yr post. Though, I would like to say that a weekend of hedonistic excess w/ Will Self would be pretty high on my Favourite Ways to Lose a Weekend.

Hi Royal Bobness of Dylan, of course (sans bible). I actually had tea with Leonard Cohen once. We spent the afternoon together sitting in the sun on a mountain side. He's very nice. Oh, and Vincent van Gogh.
