Jamal Khashoggi

Riyadh (dpo) - The government of Saudi Arabia is perplexed by the international outrage at the brutal murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The Kingdom appears not to understand why torture and beheading is suddenly an issue for its allies in the West.
“We have been torturing dissidents and beheading unwelcome critics for decades”, states Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh. “Beatings, public executions and violently suppressing rebellion have never been a problem.”
The Royal Saudi Air Force’s careless tactics in the war in Yemen have killed thousands of civilians and put millions more at risk of death by starvation. Even that has not particularly fazed the international community. “Quite the opposite!” insists bin Salman, “You all supply us with weapons for that.”
“But you ruthlessly slaughter just one journalist in the Embassy in Istanbul and suddenly you are subject to serious criticism”, marvels the Prince. “How is that any worse or even different?”
Mohammed bin Salman is relieved that at least US President Donald Trump is supporting him: “Otherwise we would be concerned what the consequences might be.”
