Interesting piece on a second referendum here: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/dec/14/second-brexit-referendum-europe-vote-remain-eu It picks up some of the themes we discussed the other day earlier in this thread.

Nice to see the press finally catching up with what people have actually been talking about for months! The Times have posted this on twitter The Times of London ?Verified account @thetimes 3h3 hours ago A majority of the cabinet view Theresa May’s Brexit deal as dead and are openly discussing other options including a second referendum, The Times has learnt https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/theresa-may-s-brexit-deal-is-dead-rwvwvjtm6?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1544859352

Great stuff. Let the PM be the one to announce it and let there be a "Reformed Remain" option. Bet Europe would offer that and at least *some* Brexiteers would feel vindicated.

Plus this: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/labour-remainers-to-abandon-corbyn-if-he-passes-brexit-deal-6zfjgnm5w Labour would be decimated by a mass loss of its own supporters if it helps May.

For a lot of people they've been doing that for the past 2 years, with Corbyn's noticable absence at people's vote events, calling for A50 to be submitted after the referendum and literally scoring every own goal imaginable since. Typically though they're claiming credit for stopping the tories going blindly through even though it's mostly been the SNP

That's finally it. Corbyn can go to hell so far as I'm concerned. https://amp.theguardian.com/politics/2018/dec/21/jeremy-corbyn-labour-policy-leaving-eu?__twitter_impression=true

Why the surprise? He's always supported brexit, him and McDonnell have both been very public about it. Don't forget the day after the vote it was corbyn who was on tv saying A50 should be implemented immediately, which would have placed us in even more a mess than we're already in!

A lot of people won't agree with Nick Cohen's analysis (below) but it does ring alarm bells. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/dec/16/why-are-labour-party-leaders-so-quiet-on-europe---maybe-it-is-the-lure-of-disaster

I don't know if his analysis of the motivations is true but the result, poor people becoming poorer, certainly will be. How can there be a Labour party working towards that? June, I've never met anyone more suited to The Green Party than you!! ;)
