He's been talking about getting a revolution brewing since his radio show back in 2006. It was an endless source of piss-taking from his co-host, Matt Morgan. He said he'll back-comb his hair, take every gig offered until he's famous, and then use that fame to kick-start his nebulous revolution.

I think he's a quick-thinking, compassionate button-pusher who causes the worst first impressions on people. There are thousands of people who begin sentences with, "I used to think Russell Brand was a right cock, but then he---". It's kind of annoying as clearly the people who say that never bothered to look further than the 'do.

Does make you a little worried about whether he'll just 'disappear' sometime soon, though...

Mysterious Dusky Woman: I am big fan of Big Brother's Big Mouth. We go somewhere private?

Russell Brand: Oooh yes, let's bathe in the communal spirit of the cosmos. Let's entwine our bodies together and give birth to new Universes yet undreamed of. Should I get my winkie out?

Mysterious Dusky Woman: *pulls out dagger* We cannot be letting of you to be speaking of all these truths. You are upsetting of many important people. It is for this that you must be dying now.

Russell Brand: Well, Carl Jung said that we don't really die but retreat into an ancestral memo---- *emits a high-pitched squeal* Not my beautiful face, you sexy tart!

Women died, starved and were imprisoned for the vote.
As in the case of the Irish he defends re Cromwell's treatment of 'em.
Some decent points, but a hell of a lot of fuzzy logic IMO.

I read this earlier. Good article and a good bloke in my opinion.

He doesn't defend Cromwell's treatment of the Irish. He calls them an 'arsehole' for 'starving and murdering them'.

Yeah I've seen him on TV and on the internet. Don't know much except he really stuck it to the "God Hates Fags" church, which is cool...

Not being allowed to vote was a bit like gay people not being allowed to marry: it's constitutional confirmation that you're not quite on the same level as everyone else.

On top of that, the voting system was relatively fresh at that point, and an obvious leap from the hierarchical system that had been in place previously. That doesn't mean we should stick with it forever, and wanting to tweak and build on it is offending Suffragettes. Societies need to be evolving, changeable systems just as we as individuals grow. Otherwise we'll get in the same situation as the American rights to bear arms peoples, who still cling to a law put in place when you were at risk of being attacked by rogue bears, redskins and redcoats.

Also, there was an active socialist influence in the country back then. Not so now betwixt Labour, Liberal and Conservatives. Surely, if we put our minds to it, we can come up with something better than that!

Good for him on that front other than that he is so unfunny it hurts. Maybe that's his gimmick to be an unfunny comic?plus he really looks like he needs a bath even more so than Johnny depp you would think they could at least afford a motel room with a shower? Different strokes I guess but if I had the kinda cash he's got I would bathe in baby tears or something.

Think he is saying something, but whether he has the stamina to take action over a long period of time is somewhere else. He has been accused of 'swallowing the dictionary' good on him for that and being facetious. Anyone that can make us laugh during this wretched period of governance deserves a medal.

And what about the march at the beginning of the tory conference, 50,000 marched in Manchester, not a lot of apathy and complacency there, can't remember much in the news either on the day.....
