Hmmm, of course they could be similarly self-absorbed careerists like wot the captains of industry often are, which takes aliens out of the equation (although it doesn't sound anywhere near as exotic or Hollywoodesque.)

It just intrigues (and if I'm honest, tires ) me to think that the counter-movement to innate greed needs to invent scare-mongering tactics such as alien-control to explain simple problems inherent within contest-mobility and free market capitalism.

Reminds me of , er, someone, trying to say that reptiles are controlling the world. All manner of religions and cults have blamed human avarice on an external entity - Satan, snakes, aliens etc etc. My opinion is a refusal to face facts that people actually want a lot of cash, and have no compunction elbowing competitors out of the market. Sorry.
