And so say all of us (according to a BBC poll) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4513929.stm

"ranked the bicycle above scientific breakthroughs such as electricity generation, the jet engine, the discovery of DNA and the invention of vaccinations" Now I can't get enough of all things bike, but I'd rather survive a viral attack if pedal came to push. Boom-cha!

Ecologically unsound if you ask me. First, mine some iron ore. (or magnesium if you're posh) Heat it up to about 1500 degrees C with coal to produce steel. Then get some big pressy things and turn it into tubes, which are then welded together to form a frame and wheels and stuff. then, get some rubber from a tree in indonesia. Ship it half way around the world and vulcanise it. Or vulcanise it then ship it half way around the world. Turn it into tyres, and put it on the frame you made. Next. Add lots of plastic bits, like seat, handgrips, gearlevers, etc. Lubricate all the moving bits with... oil. Then wrap the whole thing in a big plastic bag, and put it in a cardboard box covered in gaudy ink. But here's the real killer... Build 10,000 miles of tamac cycle paths for the bike to travel on, or use the bike to cause erosion in the countryside. Also, since travelling by bicycle requires the input of human energy, build a modern hyper-industrial agricultural industry to provide the cyclist with the calories he needs to move the damn thing around. 2 wheels bad, no wheels good! What we need is not more bikes, but more legs, and shoes. Hmmm. Take a cow in Guatemala. Kill it and remove its skin...

I have enough legs and shoes thanks ;-) Oddly, I still use those whilst riding a bike. You can, on the other hand, drive a car barefoot. Hence saving Guatemalan cows... I'm off for a bike ride this arvo to test your theories PMM...

Find a naturally fallen tree, make clogs and then walk. Naked. Enviromentally sound I think, but potentially dangerous from the personal safety/liberty angle.

"potentially dangerous from the personal safety/liberty angle" Ho yes! That would largely depend upon the (d)angle of one's personal 'liberty'

Indeed! It offers a different angle on the idea of walking erect.

Ah, you see you're equating nudity with the sexual act. For us naturists the removal of one's clothes has no connection with sexual arousal, it is purely an expression of our own sense of freedom. It is this assumption that we go naked for the purpose of base gratifiction that gives the naturist movement a bad name... FUCKING HELL LOVE - GERROM OFF!!! WAAAAY!!! CAREFUL DARLING - YOU'LL GET TWO BLACK EYES!!!!! Oh. Sorry. I've lost my train of thought... x
