Thinking still about this. Thought I'd post this link too. I watched this a few days back. What a shit world we are leaving for future archaeologists to dig up. The Plastic Nile (it's nothing about old stuff so sorry for posting) https://youtu.be/1uZVx_dHXqY

Just saw the BBC report for that and posted it - you'd think buckets hadn't been invented :-(

My wife and I help out on Op Nigtingale/Breaking Ground Heritage digs, designed to support ex service men + women. In 2019 we dug on a site in Aldbourne, Wilts which, (not prehistoric - apologies!), was the site of the camp of Easy Company, 101st Airborne (of Band of Brothers TV show). We came across crisp and sweet packets which we could date to (from memory) 1970s/1980s. All part of the story of the site but was especially good to show the school children who came round to demonstrate that these remain in tact after many years - certainly got them thinking. Although we haven't found similar on other sites I can well believe it's happening. Pics here if anyone is interested (there are links to photo journals on the site for other digs ranging from neolithic through to WW2 - photos are by Harvey Mills): https://www.breakinggroundheritage.org.uk/about-1/digging-band-of-brothers.html
