This is not the traffic strategy of the WHS traffic and visitor lot, its Avebury PC so apart from information etc. BTW the traffic from visitors to and from the WHS is a fraction of the Swindon-Devizes traffic.

Not entirely sure what you mean here VBB. The new traffic proposals (if implemented) will impact on commuters, residents and visitors alike – surely that is of interest (if not concern) to all three categories.

The suggestion, for example, that the B4003 (The West Kennet Avenue road) might be closed or ‘downplayed’ will certainly impact on commuters and residents travelling between Swindon and Marlborough. Closure of the road may be a good thing, but if the B4003 is downgraded (to little more than a farm road perhaps) who’s going to maintain it (keep it clean for walkers)? Will its closure impact adversely on people with mobility issues? What other impacts would its closure have?

This, and other proposals, do need a little thinking about, and those who are not local residents or commuters might like to have some say on issues that could impact on them, and the Avebury WHS for years to come.

I am delighted you or anyone else wants to engage, just there might be some things more worrying such as the Governance Review (that particular clock really is ticking...).

What I was attempting to convey in short was that this is Avebury Parish Council's traffic proposal, not the WHS Steering Group's Traffic and Visitor Management Committee. As for the attempt to do something about the 'Cut', I seem to recall it being discussed in 1986 so who knows this might be the century something happens.

Check out the Governance Review - only not until you pick up your latest prescription for blood pressure tablets (if you get my drift). I wish I was joking but I'm not, someone is empire building!
