Hello everyone,

We are planning a mid-week trip to avebury in the near future, can anyone recommend a good b&b / pub / hotel to stay at in the area.

Cheers.

Apart from the Red Lion, I only know of these two:

The Lodge is within the circle. The New Inn is over one mile away.

I stayed at a pub in Winterbourne Monkton once. It was fine. Can't remember the name of the pub, though, sorry.

The only place I've stayed at in the area (a few years ago now, mind!) was a B&B in Goatacre, about 10-15 minutes drive, just North of Calne on the A3102.

I'll see if I can dig out the details if needed.

We stayed at the Old Crown in Ogbourne St George. It worked out quite well. We had a family room (me, Sue and the 2 Squidlings), and they do quite nice food (they've got a little restaurant as well as bar food), and it's a pub (always a bonus!). Can't recall how much it cost, but I found a few refs to it on Google...
