This week has mostly been, whilst stuck in with the bleedin' snow, still hobbling around on dodgy knee, and alleviating the boredom by making scale model jets and tanks and watching crap TV and films....
D.A.F. - Ein Produkt Der Deutsch-Amerikanischen-Freundshaft
Been a big 'electro' D.A.F. fan fer years, but was never really aware of this, so never played their debut before. Have the live Die Klienen und Die Bosen LP, which is a wonderful din and touches on stuff from their debut, but Wow!, this really blew me away. Kinda Faust Tapes in execution, in being short half formed ideas alongside (slightly) more realised songs. Don't know if they were aware of that NY noise thang in 1979, but deffo nails that No-Wave sound. Bild 7 sounds like proto Sonic Youth circa Confusion is Sex, and Bild 8 is early Swans (well almost). Malaria! - Compiled 81'-84'
Heavy goth tinged post punk from Berlin. Was aware of the 'Your Turn To Run' track from the 'So Low' post punk comp from a few years back (plus the film Atomic Blonde and TV show Deutschland 83') but the rest was unknown to me. Some good stuff, though a few duffers too. You can see where Xmal Deutchland nicked some of their sound from.

Uncut comp - Sonic Truth
Saw this on Keith A's list a few weeks ago and thought it looked a tasty track list, so picked up a copy fer 99p on ebay. Don't really buy music mags anymore, as the two big noises available (Mojo/Uncut) seem to rehash the same articles over and over ad nauseum. Nice running order, and a nice mix of familiar and not heard, well worth the punt.
Well, that's about it, off to weather my 'Russian Winter' Tiger 1.....oooh get me, I can tell you can hardly contain your excitment!
