The Wild River – The Blow Monkeys
Fifth studio album since the Blow Monkeys re-convened some 10 yrs ago, albeit this one features a new drummer. To be honest their post-reformation material is closer to Dr Robert's more earnest solo career than the band's 80's glossy pop (or their more abstract – and under-rated – debut, Limping For A Generation), which I have mixed feelings about. That said this one has some really good tunes on it and might just be their best since they got back together.
Carry Fire - Robert Plant
I went to see him last week. I enjoyed it but was slightly disappointed if I'm honest. It got a bit too jiggy for me at times. Following a solo slot, the support act Seth Lakeman joined the band for much of the set, bringing with him his violin and over-whelming air of smugness, but thankfully not his songs. This album sounds ok on early listens.
S/T – The Stooges
Funhouse – The Stooges
The Idiot – Iggy Pop
Lust For Life – Iggy Pop
I'm reading the Open Up & Bleed biog so I've been having a bit of an Iggyfest. So many great tracks on these albums, with Dirt and Sister Midnight really hitting the spot this week.
Remix EP- Tarwater
The Needle Was Travelling – Tarwater
Dwellers on The Threshold – Tarwater
Spider Smile – Tarwater
After a self-inflicted Tarwwater amnesty, I took them back with a vengeance. One of my fave ever bands now TBH.
