Christmas Mourning lyric
Dec 20, 2011, 20:17
Always loved this song. Doing a blog post on it—and the live "Christmas version of Sleeping Gas"—and it occurred to me that I've never comprehended this lyric

"Share your light children, share your light
Let’s make Christmas a fine one this year
_______________ but not fail to detest
Every waking moment of this meaningless crybaby existence"

It sounds something like "naturéd in tooth and claw", but the claw could as easily be "cloth" and I might have listened so many times at this point I'm inventing iambs. Unfortunately the Floored Genius 2 and Charlotte Anne versions are mixed similarly.

Thoughts? This tune on anybody else's holiday playlist?

Resurrecting an old thread...! I believe it's virtually as you have it: "Nature red in tooth and claw could not fail to detest..."
