I'd just like to say that anyone in this thread railing against Political correctness is a fucking arsehole. I could explain further but Stewart Lee does it better.

As for racist, ironic, and other offensive epithets within the military the best point of reference explaining it (as it being er.. possibly..non racist) is in the book 'Generation Kill'. Its shown in the TV series at the end of episode 6, I'll try and rip the audio out of it and upload it later. I have come accross it myself working inside the MoD here and there, it's erm... really hard to explain it to people so I'm going to fail I'm afraid.
