" WHS Governance update: The Chairman noted that the Avebury WHS Steering Committee met twice a year and that the Stonehenge committee did the same. However it had been proposed by consultants that there should be a smaller, overarching executive group of about six members: an independent chair would be joined by a representative each from English Heritage, Wiltshire Council and the National Trust together possibly with two other members. There was concern that this would exclude many other stakeholders whose support was essential to make the WHS work. Examples were parish representatives, farmers and groups such as the Avebury Society. The Chairman had emailed to propose the two existing Steering Committees be retained but that they both are chaired by the same independent person, together possibly with the same, independent deputy chair for both of them. In the meantime he would forward the email to members."
